California Highway One: Marin County

Monday July 13, 2009
We recently steered ourselves north of San Francisco along California Highway One, extending our guide traveling on Highway One to the famous road's northern terminus.

Starting just north of the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito, use the guide to Highway One in Marin County to find a fascinating houseboat community, drop by Muir Woods (and get back on the highway the easy way) or hand out with the big birds near Bolinas.

D23

Friday July 10, 2009
I'm more of a Disneyland fan than a Disney fan in general, but I recently learned about a fun way to connect with Disney if you love their stuff. It's called D23 (23 for the year Walt Disney arrived in California), the "Official Community" for Disney fans. Members get to do some pretty fun things, including behind-the-scenes visits to place like the Disney archives. Check it out at the D23 website.

More Backstage Adventures

Wednesday July 8, 2009
Yesterday, I only hinted at the special activities available on Disney's Backstage Magic Tour, but you may want to know more. Here's a hint: when you own a movie studio, a cool engineering company and the home of the Muppets, you can take your guests to some pretty fun places. Read the day-by-day tour description to get a better idea of what you can do and see.

Adventures by Disney: Backstage in Southern California

Tuesday July 7, 2009

You may have heard about Adventures by Disney, the new travel company they started a couple of years ago. They offer trips in locations around the world, but since California is my territory, I was most interested in their Backstage Magic tour, which takes place in Hollywood and at the Disneyland Resort. I can't say enough good things about it.

I've been writing about California travel for over 10 years, logging dozens of trips to Hollywood and Disneyland, but Backstage Magic was unlike any other trip I've ever taken. Any one of several experiences would be enough to make a person want to go back again, but taken as a package, this is one extraordinary trip that you'll never forget - and couldn't arrange on your own. Read the detailed review to find out more.
