Yosemite Lodging Alternatives
Monday June 27, 2005
If you're just now planning a Yosemite vacation, you may be having trouble finding lodging in the park, but that doesn't mean you have to abandon your plans. If your heart is set on staying in one of the park lodges, keep calling to check for cancellations. You might get lucky.
Another option is to stay outside the park. I call Pine Mountain Lake one of the Sierra's best-kept secrets. It's a gated community a short drive from the park entrance where you can rent a condo or even a whole house, and you'll get access to their lake and other amenities, too.
Another option is the newly-renovated Evergreen Lodge, where you'll find fully-furnished cabins and a classic all-wood tavern.
