When I lived in LA, I avoided Venice Beach, assuming the mundane appearance along the city streets extended all the way to the ocean. Now that I live in Northern California, I've learned to appreciate Venice as one of my favorite, funky places to go. Obviously, others were way ahead of me on this one, voting Venice as one of the Reader favorites in Los Angeles
