"Glamping" in the Sierras
Thursday July 17, 2008
I didn't make up the word, but I like it - glamorous and camping all mushed together, just the thing for someone who doesn't mind sleeping outdoors but would rather have a comfortable bed than a sleeping bag. You'll find quite a few places where you can camp in style these days, but one of the prettiest may be Sequoia National Park's High Sierra Camp. Unlike the camps in Yosemite which require the luck of the Irish to draw a spot in the annual lottery and the endurance of a Sherpa to hike there, Sequoia's camp still has spaces available this summer, and it's only a mile walk from the parking area. Reserve now before everyone else finds out about it.
