The town of June Lake lies at the eastern base of the Sierras, just off Highway 395, on the June Lake Loop. It's this month's featured location because it's the best spot to stay when photographing fall foliage. On average the colorful show peaks around the second week of October.
June Lake is a great place almost any time of year, one of the larger towns in the area, a good place to stay if you want to fish (the area's most popular activity) or to base a tour of Mono Basin attractions. The June Lake Visitor Guide will fill you in on what there is to do, where to stay and when to go.
