It looks like a boat from the outside, and it is. It gives the illusion that you're traveling in a submarine because it has windows in the hull below the water line. Thus the name semi-submersible. We took our Catalina Island under water cruise with Catalina Adventures, but Discovery Tours offers a very similar ride.
