San Francisco Shopping

San Francisco is like an amusement park for shoppers.  San Francisco's Union Square is the third-largest shopping area in the United States and it is home to Macy's, the largest department store west of New York City. Not only are there stores galore around Union Square, but there are also charming shopping streets with boutique stores filled of all kinds of goodies to browse through and fill your shopping bag with.

Don't Miss
The big department stores around Union Square. The cafe at Nieman Marcus is especially nice for lunch or afternoon tea.
Visit at least one shopping street - Fillmore, Chestnut, or Union.

Don't Bother
There are some "outlet" malls, all quite a drive away and none of them nearly as much fun as San Francisco's own shops.

Fisherman's Wharf shops mostly sell tacky tourist items, but there are a few interesting shops in the Cannery and Ghirardelli Square
