San Francisco Jackson Square Pictures

Jackson Square lies near the base of the Transamerica Pyramid, roughly bounded by Jackson, Montgomery, Gold and Sansome Streets. During the Gold Rush, it became the center of the young city of San Francisco's commercial center, and the home of Ghirardelli's first chocolate factory. Saved from the 1906 earthquake and fire by brave Navy men, the area fell into disuse as the city grew. In the late twentieth century, the area underwent a rebirth. Today, it houses antique shops and offices.

City Guides offers walking tours of Jackson Square and the surrounding area.
