Christmas in Orange County
Every once in a while, a California location surprises us. For all of its image of beaches, surfers and sun, Orange County turns out to be one of the best places in the state to get your fill of Christmas festivities.
A word of warning: Some of these activities require advance planning to buy tickets or make reservations.
- Newport Beach Christmas Boat Parade: One of the best harbor boat parades in the area, in one of the biggest yacht harbors.
- Huntington Harbor Cruise of Lights: A charming boat trip through the harbor's waterways passes houses decorated with enough lights to make Las Vegas jealous.
- The Glory of Christmas: The home of the drive-in church service, the Crystal Cathedral, puts on a Christmas pageant that would make Hollywood proud, with live animals, flying angels, special effects and orchestration by the London Symphony Orchestra.
- Disneyland at Christmas: Disneyland gets gussied up all over, with special parades. The Haunted Mansion and It's a Small World get extra decorations, too.
