A 416-square mile park in the high Rocky Mountains, home to elk, mule deer, big horn sheep, moose, coyotes and smaller animals.
Because of the park's extreme elevation (8,000 to 14,000 feet), visitors with medical conditions or who are susceptible to altitude sickness should take extra care.
You can reach Rocky Mountain National Park on U.S. routes 34, 36 from the east through Estes Park, or from from I-70 and U.S. Rt. 40. to U.S. Rt.34 through Granby and Grand Lake.
