Los Angeles Driving Distances
California Driving Distances Map
Use the form below to get Los Angeles driving distances - and even more important - average travel times between the popular destinations shown on the map.
IMPORTANT: Average speed on freeways and Los Angeles city streets can vary widely. For example, speeds on US 101 average 5 to 20 mph during congested commuting hours but can be as high as (or higher than) the 65 mph speed limit during the middle of the day or on weekends.
Travel times below are for planning purposes only and are estimated for visitors, based on these assumptions:
- Driving on weekends or weekdays before 7:00 a.m., between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m or after 7:00 p.m.
- Average speed on city streets is 15 to 20 mph (25 mph speed limit, allowing for stop lights)
- Average freeway speed is 50 to 60 mph. Time added for known bottlenecks and perpetual slowdowns
Of course, an overturned truck or flock of turkeys on the freeway can bring everything to a halt any time. To get accurate travel times, up-to-date for a few minutes before your drive, visit the Los Angeles Department of Transportation website.
