Universal Studios Hollywood

Universal Studios Tips

For the Kids

  • Universal Studios will appeal to older kids and adults, but very little ones could be bored.
  • If you have smaller children, avoid disappointment. Measure your child's height before your visit and find out in advance which rides they can go on.
  • Bring something to amuse the kids (and maybe the adults, too) while you stand in line.
  • A theme park is a great place for kids to learn how to navigate with a map. Let them find the way to the next attraction for you.

Stay Comfortable

  • If anyone is noise-sensitive, bring earplugs. Some attractions are extremely noisy.
  • Go shopping at the end of your visit so you donät have to carry your purchases around all day, or use the package delivery service and pick up your purchases as you leave near the exit at Universal Film Co.
  • You can't avoid getting wet on the Jurassic Park ride. Very wet. Use the ponchos provided, and go early enough in the day that you can dry out before it cools off.
  • Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Don't carry too much. You have to drag every ounce of it around with you all day.
  • Bring sunscreen, hats and sunglasses, especially in summer.
  • Bring warmer clothing for evening, even in summer.
  • Be prepared in the winter if it looks like rain, or you'll join legions of blue Universal poncho-clad visitors.

Special Needs

  • Universal operates a complimentary kennel service for your pet. Just go to the Guest Services window outside the entrance.

Park Specifics

  • Plan to spend all day at the park, particularly during busy times when lines may be long.
  • Take the studio tour early. The park is open late, but the studio tours end when the studios close.
  • Don't let the posted shooting schedules fool you. They are interesting, but you cannot watch. However, you can make a reservation at the Audiences Unlimited booth (near the Wild Wild West show) to view a live filming during your visit to Los Angeles.
  • In case you split up or someone gets misplaced, plan where to meet. Walk there together so everyone knows where it is.
