This is the rainy season. Monthly rainfall often comes all on the same day, especially during winter storms.
Californians feel very cold on days when people from other parts of the country think it's warm. Please don't laugh at us, we can't help it!
The day after it rains, the skies are sometimes exceptionally clear and a photographer's delight!

When I say it's cold on June and July evenings, I mean it. The fog is wet, and as it comes in, there's a wind associated with it. My standard attire to watch San Francisco's Fourth of July fireworks is warm pants (or sweatpants over the shorts I've been wearing during the day) and 3-4 layers of long-sleeved shirts and/or sweatshirts. If you aren't prepared with proper clothing, you will most likely be improving our local economy by purchasing warmer clothes from a street vendor.
