Spokane Riverfront Park
Visitor Information - Spokane Riverfront Park

By , About.com Guide

The site of the Expo '74 World's Fair is now a city park in the center of Spokane. Its 400 acres are home to a number of attractions, including:

  • A 1909 historic Looff Carousel
  • Riverfront Park Pavilion, home to amusement park rides and a winter ice skating rink.
  • The IMAX Experience Theatre
  • Entertainment and events, including Bloomsday (a spring running event), Hoopfest (three-on-three basketball), Fireworks Festival (Baroque music, Shakespeare and fireworks) and the Spokane American Music Festival.
The park's picnic shelters were voted the best place in Spokane to have a picnic, and its riverside walking paths fill with locals enjoying a day out. Rent a pedal-powered surrey, or a Segway, and take a spin. We enjoyed sitting on the grass and watching people, listening to the carousel's music and the clock tower's chimes.

An open-air trolley, looking like a train with rubber tires, runs around the park's perimeter.
