Step 4: Day Trips

By Betsy Malloy, About.com

If you have more than one or two days to spend on your Grand Canyon visit, and you'd like to take a trip to one of the surrounding areas, these are within a 150 miles or so.

Flagstaff
About 85 miles away. Here you'll find the Museum of Northern Arizona, the Arboretum at Flagstaff and the San Francisco Peaks.

Lake Powell
About 75 miles away. Besides the lake, the area also has lots of gorgeous slot canyons that are favorites of hikers and photographers.

Sedona
About 120 miles away. Besides its famed rocks and art galleries, Sedona is a great place for hiking, or take a jeep tour into red rock country.

Cameron Trading Post
Their art gallery is showplace for fine Native American art and Southwest art, and the restaurant makes a mighty fine Navajo taco, too.
