Sedona, Arizona is a relatively small place, but it offers a wide variety of things to do. These are some of our favorites:
Top Things to do in Sedona
- Red Rocks: You don't have to go out of your way to find them, but they are Sedona's number one attraction. While you're out and about, look for Snoopy, Bell Rock and the Coffee Pot, and then name a few of your own.
- Hiking: A hike is a good way to get out among the rocks and soak in the views.
- Sunsets: Arizona's spectacular sunsets reach their pinnacle here. Two good places to be at sunset are the airport, or on the patio at Canyon Breeze restaurant. A less-crowded alternative is the first turnout going up the hill on Schnebly Road.
- Verde Canyon Railroad: Less than an hour's drive away in Clarkdale, this train trip takes you through some spectacular scenery along the Verde River.
- Slide Rocks State Park: This place may be the coolest spot in Arizona on a hot day, and it has a natural water slide, too.
- Tlaquepaque: Named for a picturesque suburb of Guadalajara, Mexico, and built to look like it, this complex is home to more than 40 shops featuring one-of-a-kind items.
- Chapel of the Holy Cross: Designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, this lovely chapel seems to grow out of the rocks it's built on. It's also a good place to get a nice view.
- Vortex Sites: I can't claim to have experienced them, but many New Age practitioners say there are several vortex sites around Sedona, enhanced-energy places that facilitate prayer, meditation, and healing.

However, if you don't know much about it, there may be a reason why it's not listed. Research it carefully before you go to be sure you spend your vacation time and money wisely.
