Places to Eat in the Los Angeles Beach Towns

Good Stuff Restaurants

Casual dining aimed at the beach crowd. In Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach and Manhattan Beach.

Hermosa Beach: La Playita Cafe

Good Mexican food, tucked on a side street near the beach. They've been here 1980, so they must be doing something right.

Hermosa Beach: Marth's 22nd Street Grill

Half a block from the ocean, with an interesting menu and great food, Martha's is one of the best places in the area for breakfast. Once you've been there, you'll understand why weekend waits are long.

Malibu: Paradise Cove

The food may not be haute cuisine, but we love the vibe at this oceanside spot.

Malibu: The Reel Inn

A casual seafood shack in Malibu right across from Topanga State Beach, the Reel Inn serves some of the area's best seafood in an ultra-casual atmosphere.

Manhattan Beach Brewing Company

Pub grub and some the of best micro-brews around, just a half block above the Manhattan Beach Pier.

Manhattan Beach: The Kettle

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week in Manhattan Beach. Great for lunch or a late night meal.

Manhattan Beach: Uncle Bill's Pancake House

A long-time breakfast favorite in Manhattan Beach.

Marina Del Rey: Cafe del Rey

The innovative global cuisine at Cafe del Rey is a local favorite. They also have a spectacular marina view.

Marina Del Rey: Jer-Ne Restaurant at the Ritz Carlton

Los Angeles regional cuisine is on the plate, but Jer-Ne was also voted one of the best waterfront restaurants in Los Angeles in a 2007 Citysearch poll. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, Sunday brunch and afternoon tea Thursday - Saturday. Try to get an outdoor table for unobstructed marina views.

Redondo Beach: Captain Kidd's Fish Market

Fish market ambiance is the hallmark here, with fish sandwiches and fish and chips. They will also cook fresh fish from the market for only a few dollars over the market price.

Redondo Beach: Cheesecake Factory

With so many nice locally-owned restaurants in the area, we hesitate to mention this ubiquitous chain spot, but it's too popular to ignore.

Redondo Beach: Chez Melange

Any meal is a treat at this long-time favorite, serving eclectic California-style cuisine is a pretty dining room.

Redondo Beach: Tony's

One restaurant on the Redondo Beach Pier wasn't enough for Tony, so he opened two. We like the one they call "new" Tony's the best. The decor and menu are on the old-fashioned side, but the window tables which look right down into the water can't be beat.

Redondo: Kincaid's Fish, Chop and Steak House

Located on the Redondo Beach Pier, Kincaid's serves up a side order of good food along with their gorgeous views.

Santa Monica: Ocean Ave Seafood

Voted best seafood restaurant in Los Angeles in a 2007 Citysearch poll, this Santa Monica spot combines a sophisticated menu with a casual ambiance.

Santa Monica: Typhoon

Located just south of the Santa Monica Airport, Typhoon has some of the best views in Los Angeles.

Venice Beach: Wabi Sabi

Small plates (appetizers, sushi), Cal-Asian-style "Bouillabaise."
