The Bottom Line
The Luxe Sunset Boulevard is a nice hotel with lots of extras that most people seem happy with. However, unless you plan to take advantage of every one of those extras, it's hard to justify the room rate, especially when Hotel Angeleno across street or the Brentwood Inn down the road are much less expensive.

Guide Review - Luxe Hotel Sunset Boulevard
The Luxe Sunset Boulevard sets a tone and expectation just by its name. In terms of ambiance, it measures up: it's very nicely decorated in typical turn-of-this-century Los Angeles hotel style: brown and taupe colors with clean lines and natural-textured surfaces. The rooms are very large, and the property has lots of amenities. Reviews since their renovation (completed in 2006) are mostly very good.

The Luxe also meets expectations in terms of its price ($200-plus up to $500 per night in late 2007). WiFi is free, but parking is $22 per night, the non-refundable pet deposit is $150, room service tacks on a 19% "service charge" not mentioned on the menu and has the audacity to leave space on the bill to add yet another tip, and a $2 bottle of water from the goodie basket will set you back $7 (not uncommon, but parsimonious after you've already paid so much for the room).
