Last-Minute Tickets
If you've failed to plan ahead and have access to a computer and printer, the Getty Villa often releases tickets online at 9:00 a.m. Check availability at http://getty.edu/visit/ and print your ticket for same-day admission. Check to see if your hotel has a printer you can use, or ask for the location of a nearby cyber cafe.
Making the Most of Your Visit
- If someone is dropping you off, the entrance gate staff will direct you to the drop-off area.
- Leave the big stuff behind. You'll have to check backpacks and large packages on the way in. And don't carry anything embarrassing. Your bags may be searched. You'll also have to leave your umbrella behind, but the museum provides plenty of them for you to use if you need them.
- Leave the cell phone behind, or turn it off so it doesn't distract others in the galleries.
- Pay attention to where you park. After a few hours of museum-browsing, it's easy to forget where you started from. Write it down or take a digital photograph.
- Take advantage of the orientation tours and weekend gallery tours to learn more about what you're looking at.
- Get more out of the museum by renting a GettyGuide Audio Player at the Pick-Up Desk on Floor 1 of the Museum. It's like getting a private tour from the museum's curators and conservators. Don't leave the kids out when you rent the Audio Guide. They've got a great selection just for the younger set.
- Did you see something you liked and want to know more about it? Go to the nearest GettyGuide station, bookmark it and read about it later on their website
- Got questions? Look for the people in white shirts and vests.
Primary Needs
- Baby bottles are the only food/beverage allowed in the galleries. Leave everything else in the car.
-
The Cafe serves casual Mediterranean fare,
- If you're hungry, but would rather stand looking at the art work than stand in line at the cafe, try picking up a to-go box instead.
