Griffith Park has more train rides than any other kind of recreations, with trains in three locations:

Los Angeles Live Steamers and Carolwood Pacific Railroad Company

5202 Zoo Drive

The photo above isn't out of place and it wasn't taken at Disneyland. The most exciting thing a Disney fan will find at Griffith Park is the Carolwood Pacific Railroad Company, which preserves Walt Disney's barn workshop and his original engines and cars. It's next to the Los Angeles Live Steamers club, hobbyists who operate 1/8th-scale trains on a 1.5-mile track. They also run a fun Halloween Ghost Train in October. Both are manned by volunteers, open to the public on a limited schedule and do not charge admission.

Travel Town Railroad

5200 Zoo Drive

Right next door is Travel Town Railroad, which runs a miniature train around the perimeter of the Travel Town Museum, using coaches that originally came from singing cowboy Gene Autry’s Melody Ranch. They're open every day except December 25 and charge a small fare. They also run a special holiday train to Santa's Workshop from late November until just before Christmas.

Griffith Park and Southern Railroad

4400 Crystal Springs Drive

The Griffith Park and Southern Railroad is open every day of the year, except for Christmas Day, Their 1/3rd scale reproductions of classic American trains of the 20th Century run on over a mile of track, across a bridge, through a forest and the Old Western Town. They charge a fare that's as scaled-down as their trains are.
