Review:
The Lemon Tree Hotel is a renovated motel complex about 3 miles from Disneyland. The pictures on their website look almost too good to be true, given their low rates, but I found their double room nicely decorated and with good air conditioning (a plus in Anaheim's summer heat). I first visited the Lemon Tree soon after it opened, and on a return trip in April, 2008, I found everything still clean, comfy and in great condition. Shower water pressure is a bit low and sound sometimes drifts in through the walls, but these are minor issues given the value you get for your money.

The quality of room you get here for the price make it an excellent value, and rates get even lower if you're staying for a week. Check for the lowest rates by booking directly through their website. Off-season, their Manager's Special makes it cheaper yet.

The Lemon Tree Hotel is about five minutes' drive from Disneyland, and not on the tram route, so plan on spending a few extra dollars per day for parking.

The Lemon Tree is cleaner, quieter and cheaper than many Disneyland-area hotels (including some that have much higher prices), but there are some things you should know:

  • They require a deposit of the first night's cost. They also charge a partial early departure fee.

  • Many rooms have ground-floor doors that open to the outside.

  • The continental breakfast is quite limited, but adequate if you like cereal and yogurt.
The bottom line? We think the Lemon Tree is one of the best budget hotels in the Disneyland area and recommend it to our friends.
