My favorite little central coast town, Cayucos is also home to one of my favorite California restaurants, Hoppe's Bistro. Chef Wilhelm Hoppe cooks up a seasonally inspired menu featuring locally-raised meats and produce, including red abalone from the nearby and nationally renowned Abalone Farm.

Great service, a Zagat food rating of 26 out of 30, a historical building, cozy dining room and even more beautiful garden make Hoppe's a don't-miss stop on this foodie's list. It's just north of Morro Bay and south of Hearst Castle.
