Things to Do in Mendocino County

Fort Bragg: Glass Beach

This is one of California's most interesting beach, littered with colorful sea glass. It also has beautiful cliffs and crashing waves.

Fort Bragg: Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens

This Mendocino spot is only public garden in the continental United States fronting directly on the ocean. It's a must-see for gardeners and garden lovers.

Fort Bragg: North Coast Brewing Company

North Coast is one of the country's most-awarded breweries, with a nice restaurant in downtown Fort Bragg. Every Saturday, you can tour their brewery, and no reservations are needed.

Fort Bragg: Pacific Star Winery

Pacific Star boasts one of California's most beautiful winery locations, and their wines are equally as stellar as their seaside setting. This is a good place to have a picnic, too. They're located 12 miles north of Fort Bragg at mile marker 73.58.

Fort Bragg: Ricochet Ridge Ranch Horseback Riding

This highly-acclaimed ranch offers daily trail rides along Ten Mile Beach, across cattle ranches and through redwood forests. They also offer week-long riding vacations and weekend riding holidays.

Fort Bragg and Willits: Skunk Train

This scenic train ride through the California Redwoods is one of the area's most popular activities. Trains leave from Fort Bragg and Willits, and they offer a number of special events.

Little River: Lost Coast Kayaking

Two-hour guided sea cave tours from Van Damme State Park. They provide all the equipment you need.

Manchester: Ross Ranch Horseback Riding

Guided trail rides on Manchester Beach or in the redwood forests above Elk. Reservations are required, no walk-ins.

Point Arena: Manchester Beach

A pretty beach with lots of sand and driftwood.

Point Arena: Point Arena Lighthouse

A 115-foot-tall lighthouse on the Mendocino coast, open to the public.

Point Arena: Schooner Gulch Beach and Bowling Ball Beach

Two beaches in one place. Schooner Gulch is a pretty little beach where the creek runs into the ocean. Bowling Ball Beach takes its name from the spherical boulders found there.

Mendocino/Fort Bragg: Point Cabrillo Lighthouse

A beautifully-restored lighthouse, Point Cabrillo still has its original lens. Renovated lightkeepers' quarters are available for rent.

Willits: Ridgewood Ranch, Home of Seabiscuit

During summer, you can tour the home of the little bay horse whose steadfast spirit gave hope to our weary nation during the Great Depression.
