By Betsy Malloy, About.com Guide

If you're looking for the best Pacific Grove has to offer a visitor, try these things to do.

Scenic Drive

Sights as beautiful as the fabled 17-Mile Drive, with no admission fee. It's easy to find. Take Ocean View Blvd along the water from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, following as its name changes to Sunset Drive. When it turns away from the water, you're done.

17-Mile Drive

You'll pay a fee to drive through this exclusive community, but it does offer pretty views and fabled sights.

Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary

Wintering in the trees in Pacific Grove, Monarch butterflies wake up in the morning and take flight like bunches of orange leaves fluttering around you.

Point Pinos Lighthouse

Visit the the oldest continuously operating lighthouse on the West Coast (since 1855).

Victorian Architecture

Some of Pacific Grove's "painted ladies" are as pretty as their sisters in San Francisco. Take a self-guided walking tour around town to see some of them. The Chamber of Commerce offers guided tours in October.

Asilomar State Beach

This pretty beach with rolling waves and lots of sand is popular with locals. There's also a nice cliffside walk here.
