Campgrounds in Napa Valley
Surprisingly, you can find some Napa Valley campgrounds that are very conveniently located near the most popular towns.
- Napa Valley Expo Camping: This RV park is located just 10 blocks from downtown Napa and they have water, sewer, electrical hookups and free WiFi. You'll save 10% if you join the Good Sam Club.
- Calistoga RV and Campground: At the Napa Valley Fairgrounds, just a few blocks from downtown Calistoga. 70 sites, all with water and electricity, some with sewer hookups. Tent camping area. Open year round.
- Skyline Wilderness Park: Located near the town of Napa, they have 39 spaces some with hookups and others for tent camping only. They have restrooms and showers and also have some horse camping sites, with equestrian trails nearby.
- Bothe Napa Valley State Park
The campground in this state park located on Hwy 29 north of St. Helena has a swimming pool. Campers up to 31 feet and trailers up to 24 feet long, 40 sites. Closed due to budget constraints, but a local coalition was working in late 2011 to get it re-opened. You can find the latest about this at their website or at Napa County Regional Park and Open Space District
Camping at Lake Berryessa
Lake Berryessa is east of Napa Valley. On a map, it doesn't look that far away, but the mountains that form Napa Valley's eastern boundary intervene, making it a longer drive than you might imagine. Most of the campgrounds are on the west or southwest side of the lake. If you're just going to enjoy the lake, all locations are fine, but check a map and driving times before choosing one of these places to camp while visiting Napa Valley.
- Pleasure Cove Marina has about two dozen RV sites, with full or partial hookups and also over 100 tent campsites with water only. This is your best bet if you're thinking of using this as a base to explore Napa Valley.
- Berryessa Shores offers tent and RV camping but all are dry camps with no potable water provided and only porta-potties.
