On my last visit, I chose the Native American treatment, given by Carol. One of Two Bunch's many unique treatments, it included a stop in the sauna, the blessings of the Four Directions, and a sand and aloe vera scrub. It was a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
I also tried the mud baths, which were featured in a scene from the film The Player. I've always enjoyed mud baths in Calistoga and the outdoor cabana at Two Bunch is much prettier than the indoor baths I've visited before. However, it was a very windy day and because the hot water doesn't circulate through the bath, I kept finding myself cold on top and hot on the bottom, requiring constant movement that negated much of the mud's potential relaxing qualities. This might not be a problem when the air is still.
We give the Two Bunch spa a reserved thumbs-up. The extensive treatment menu and unique experiences are well-complemented by a very experienced staff. However, the waiting room is dowdy, with worn carpet and only a small, cramped-feeling seating area, giving a slightly tarnished start to the visit. The constant fiddling required to keep the shower temperature in control negates a little of the relaxed feeling the therapist delivers.
