Palm Springs Picture Gallery
1950s Architecture

The Horizon Hotel was built in 1952 as a getaway for Hollywood producer Jack Wrather and his wife, designed by William A. Cody. The low, flat roofs and clean lines are typical of mid-20th century buildings in Palm Springs, but this place has a twist: There are no square corners so the rooms and structures are all slightly diamond-shaped.

If you like this kind of architecture, contact PSModerntours at 760-318-6118 for their tour. The Palm Springs Preservation Foundation's Self-Tour will show you more of the city's class one architectural treasures.
