Pismo State Beach is a long beach just next to the town it's named for. It's a nice place for a walk and every winter, it's home to a large colony of migrating monarch butterflies.

- Pismo State Beach is very close to the town of Pismo Beach, making it easy to get to and offering lots of other things to do nearby.
- The surf in this area is prone to rip currents, which can drag unwitting swimmers out to sea.
- 9,000 years ago, the Chumash Indians called this place pismu (their word for tar), so don't be surprised if you find some on the beach.
Pismo State Beach is near the town of Pismo Beach, just off Pacific Coast Highway (California Highway One) which is also called Dolliver Street in town.
