Lots of hiking trails leave from the campground
This is one of the prettiest campgrounds in the area, sheltered under the trees (which, although the park's name implies otherwise are mostly oak trees). Campsites are within sight of each other, but not so close that you'll feel like you're sleeping with the people next door.
The downside of this pretty, wooded location is that it fosters a lot of poison oak. If you don't know what it looks like, take time to read the sign near the entrance, which shows it in all seasons.
Dogs are allowed in the picnic area, the campground, and on Pipeline Road, Graham Hill Trail, and Meadow Trail. They are not allowed on any other trails or interior roads.
Reservations are a necessity on weekends and during the summer. Learn about how to make California state park reservations.
