Santa Cruz, CA

Website
50-plus sites for RVs and camping trailers only (up to 34 feet long), some with hookups. Camping vehicles must be fully self-contained, wtih permanent working plumbing fixtures, flushable toilets, and a sealed effluent holding tank.
Restrooms with flush toilets. The Beach Shack serves food but is only open on busier days.
Hookups at some sites, but no dump stations.
Beach play, fishing from the pier - no license required, but Dept. of Fish and Game limits apply
Sites are side by side facing the beach and a little close together for my taste. There are no trees for shade, but the views are so pretty you may not notice. From your campsite, you'll be able to see the entire Monterey Bay and watch the birds roosting on the old cement ship.
Bluffs at the back also protect the site from wind.
Dogs allowed on leash only
Seacliff Beach is 5.5 miles south of Santa Cruz. Exit CA 1 at State Park Drive and go a short distance toward the water to the park entrance kiosk.
This lovely oceanside campground is justifiably popular. Your best bet is to make reservations as far in advance as possible, which is 7 months ahead. Learn about how to make California state park reservations.
Overflow camping spots were assigned by lottery at the park entrance until August, 2007. However, they are now also on the reservation system.
