The unique style and attention to detail at Hotel Parisi are impressive, even to this travel writer who's spent a lot of time in hotel rooms in the last decade.
Rooms are very nicely decorated, in a no-frills style that uses feng shui design principles to create a relaxing environment. Those facing street have partial ocean views (looking over the buildings across the street), but are very quiet, with little sound leaking up from the street below.
The Parisi tempts comparisons with other hotels, if only to point out how much nicer it can be than others who seem bent on sucking every penny out of your pockets. Bottles of water and cans of soda from the mini-bar are only $1. Parking costs less than half of what it does in downtown San Diego. WiFi is free. And even nicer, the breakfast area looks like a nice cafe, with pretty decor and an excellent selection of hot and cold dishes, pastries and other foods.
Finally, the hotel has partnered with a local team of holistic health practitioners to provide in-room spa services to their guests. Their signature service is the "Zen Touch" Shiatsu massage, but they also offer an impressive menu of massages and other treatments.
