Visiting the Carlsbad Flower Fields

The Carlsbad Flower Fields are a 50-acre swath of blossoms, covered in red, orange, yellow, green and purple. The folks here didn't set out to plant a botanical garden. Instead, they are a commercial grower of Giant Ranunculus bulbs. It just happens that the flowers these bulbs produce are so beautiful that people want to go see them, creating a temporary tourist attraction every spring.

The main attraction at the Carlsbad Flower Fields are the Giant Rananculus flowers, dense-petaled and vibrant-colored.

Because the Carlsbad Flower Fields are mostly intended for growing bulbs, they sell only one to two percent of the flowers, but that still amounts to almost a million flower stems, a small number compared to the six to eight million bulbs harvested annually. Visitors can buy Flower Fields brand products in its store located at the site.

There's little else to do at the Carlsbad Flower Fields besides enjoy the blossom show, but there is a Miniature Rose Garden and a display that includes each of the more than 180 All-American Rose selection winners since 1940.

Leave the pets at home. Only certified support animals are allowed to enter the Carlsbad Flower Fields.
