Mount Diablo State Park
Camping year round. The Bay Area's tallest peak with a view that some say is surpassed only by that of 19,000-foot Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. About 30 miles east.
Mt. Tamalpais State Park
Spectacular views from the 2,571-foot peak. Limited camping sites, reservations are required. About 20 miles north.
Novato RV Park
68 sites, 25 miles north of San Francisco.
Petaluma KOA

Samuel P. Taylor State Park
Camp sites in redwood groves. About 35 miles from the city, north on US Hwy 101 and west of San Rafael.
Saratoga Springs
A resort area since 1880, about 50 miles south of San Francisco in the Santa Cruz Mountains. 41 sites.
