By the time you reach this statue, you'll be back at Washington Square where you started your tour. Built using money bequeathed to the city by Lillie Hitchcock Coit, this statue is a tribute to firefighters. You may hear tour guides or others claim that the tower bearing Coit's name looks like the nozzle of a fire hose. You can see the tower from the park next to the statue and compare the two for yourself.
