Guide Review - Convict Lake Resort
A lot of people like Convict Lake Resort, so many that it sells out months in advance for the summer. You may share their opinion, but if you haven't been to Convict Lake Resort, you should know a few things about it before you decide to go.
Convict Lake Resort appeals most to fishermen and nature lovers who don't plan to spend much time in their cabins. The resort has about a half dozen new cabins, which look very nice from the outside and in the photos on the resort's website. The rest are much older. We stayed in the Blackspot, #16. The place was clean and the beds were comfortable. However, the rooms are very basic, with dark, wood-paneled walls, outdated carpet and the most basic furniture. See the pros and cons above for more comments. If you are looking for a resort where you can spend time relaxing in your room, this is probably not the place for you.
On the other hand, if you like fishing, Convict Lake is well stocked, and there are plenty of other outdoor activities at the resort as listed above, including the trailhead for hiking the Convict Trail.
Some people who have reviewed the resort online at tripadvisor.com find the lack of amenities charming and even "cozy." Personally, I would have preferred more comfortable chairs on the porch and a couple of lamps beside the beds. Make your decision based on your own taste.
