Hollywood Beach

By , About.com Guide

About Hollywood Beach:

Clark Gable lived here and Rudolph Valentino filmed a movie in the area, but it's not clear exactly why this place is called Hollywood Beach. Whatever the reason, this mile-long, neighborhood beach is picture perfect: a pretty, clean beach with lots of soft sand.

Hollywood Beach Fees:

    Entrance Fee: None
Parking Fee: Free street parking in the neighborhood

Creature Comforts at Hollywood Beach:

Public restrooms are available, but you won't find any amenities on the beach itself. If you get hungry, nearby at 117 Los Altos St. is Mrs. Olson's Coffee Hut, a local favorite breakfast place with good food and lots of old-fashioned charm.

Hollywood Beach Activities:

  • Sand play
  • Swimming, lifeguard on duty summer weekends
  • Beach volleyball (use of courts is free)

How to Get to Hollywood Beach:

From CA Hwy 1 in Oxnard, take Channel Islands Blvd. west to where it curves as it ends at Harbor Blvd. At the curve, follow Harbor Blvd. left (south) onto the peninsula that protects the Channel Islands Harbor. Hollywood Beach runs along the ocean-facing side of the peninsula.
