Look for the sign for Heceta Lighthouse State Scenic Viewpoint near milepost 178 on US 101 and drive down the hill to the parking area. The lighthouse and keeper's quarters are a 15- to 20-minute hike from the parking area, uphill on a stable, gravel-covered path. If you aren't up to the hiking, you can view the Heceta Head Lighthouse from the turnout just south of the tunnel, near the Sea Lion Caves.

Heceta (pronounced he-SEE-tuh) Head lighthouse was built in 1890, named for Spanish explorer Don Bruno De Heceta. The Queen Anne-style Heceta Head Lighthouse and keeper's quarters were built in 1894. It was automated in 1963.
