Yaquina Bay Lighthouse History:
Built 1871, the Yaquina (pronounced Yah-KWIN-uh) Bay Lighthouse was decommissioned in 1874, when the more powerful Yaquina Head Lighthouse was built a few miles away. It was used as a Coast Guard Lifeboat Station afterward and eventually restored as a privately-maintained aid to navigation on December 7, 1996.
