Driving a houseboat is pretty easy. There are only a few controls: a steering wheel, starter switches for the two outboard motors, each with its own forward/reverse lever. A boat isn't like a car and takes a little while to respond so try to anticipate turns ahead of time and take it easy, making small adjustments with the wheel at a time. Otherwise, you'll end up going down the river in a zig-zag.
It only took my friend a few minutes to get used to the controls, and most of us found it quite easy to take our turn at steering.
Let's take a look at what's keeping us going.
