How to Connect With California Travel on Facebook

By , About.com Guide

Become a Fan (Silver Level)

Facebook is now a precocious five-year-old with a growing user base that includes me and many of my friends, which got me started thinking about how to connect with my readers in new ways. This week, we'll feature three new ways to connect with us on Facebook.

First and easiest is to become a fan. To do that, search for "Betsy Malloy's California Travel at About.com" then view the page and sign up as a fan.

Subscribe to Our Blog (Gold Level)

Instead of you having to take time to go see what's new at California Travel, you can have our front page items show up automatically in your Facebook News Feed.

To do this, you'll need an application that reads RSS. It's a fancy-sounding name, but a simple idea. Use the Applications link in the lower left corner of your Facebook page. Click Find More and search for RSS. Choose one of the applications and once you've activated it, add this URL as a new feed: http://z.about.com/6/g/gocalifornia/b/rss2.xml

Be Our Friend (Platinum Level)

For the really easy way to get travel tips, ideas for the weekend, exclusive tips on deals without doing any extra work, just find us by entering gocalifornia.guide@about.com into the Facebook friend finder and click Add as Friend.

Using this option, you'll find out what we're up to, have a chance to join groups of readers with similar interests, share your experiences. And it will all show up on your home page just like your other friends' posts do. What could be easier?
