The California Adventure entry area brings a lot of Walt Disney into the park, looking back to LA in the 1920s when everyone was full of hope and optimism.
This statue is California Adventure's tip of the hat to the "Friends" statue at the Disneyland hub. This more down-to-earth scene shows a young Walt Disney and his new creation, Mickey Mouse around the time Walt created the beloved mouse. The year 1923 on the plaque at its base is the year Walt Disney left Kansas City to embark on a new adventure in California - and the year he founded his own company.
