Astro Orbitor works more or less the same way as Dumbo the Flying Elephant. The ride rotates, but the riders control their vertical motion. Because it loads all 16 rockets before "taking off," the line moves, then stops.
Astro Orbitor is one of the prettiest rides in Disneyland at night. To get a picture like this one, find a trash can or something else to brace your camera on, then press the button carefully to keep from jiggling it.
