Tomorrowland is one of two places you can board the Disney Monorail. The other station is in Downtown Disney. The Disney Monorail passes through California Adventure, but you can't board it there.
The Disney monorail travels a 2.5-mile loop through both Disneyland and California Adventure. It takes it 20 minutes to go all the way around the park. It's a good way to rest your feet and to get out of the park from Tomorrowland without having to walk all the way to the front gate.
Tips About the Disney Monorail
- Watch the engine compartment as the Disney Monorail train arrives. If there's space up front with the driver and you're quick to ask a cast member, you can ride there. Don't be shy or slow about this or you'll lose your opportunity.
- No food or drinks are allowed aboard the Disney Monorail.
- The Disney Monorail stops running about a half hour before the fireworks begin and starts again as soon as Tinkerbelle has cleared the air space, with the last trip 30 minutes before closing time.
Fun Facts About the Disney Monorail
When it opened in 1959, the Disney Monorail was America's first single-rail transportation system. Then Vice-President Richard Nixon was among its first riders.
The Disney Monorail now uses Mark VII model cars introduced in 2008.
Disney Monorail Accessibility
You can get right onto the Disney Monorail in your wheelchair or ECV. Just ask a Cast Member for help. In Tomorrowland, go to the elevator next to the Winner's Circle near Autopia. It will take you up to the Disney Monorail platform.
