The story line is simple: Jackson and his animated, space-traveling companions visit a colorless planet and conquer forces of darkness with light and music.
Captain EO's mid-1980s 3-D effects are unlikely to impress a 2010 audience, but it features one of the world's top entertainers at the peak of his stardom, just a few years after his blockbuster album Thriller was released. Clearly, Jackson is what the crowd comes to see, even now.
Rating: 4 smiles for memories of a talented entertainer and my first trip to Disneyland

Captain EO Facts
- Type: 3-D film
- Location: Tomorrowland
- Height restrictions: None
- Duration: 17 minutes
- A new show starts every 20 minutes and the theater holds almost 600 people, so unless the park is very busy, the line is usually short enough.
- Young children may have a hard time keeping the 3-D glasses on
- The 3-D glasses give me a headache. Wait until the last moment to put them to minimize this problem.
Captain EO ran at Disneyland from 1986 to 1997, before it was replaced by Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. The original 3-D film was created at the height of Michael Jackson's career, in conjunction with producer George Lucas and director Francis Ford Coppola. The 70-mm film print is new and some (but not all) of the original special effects are back, along with a couple of new ones.
The theater is ECV and wheelchair accessible. Just go in through the regular line. Because of limited space, only one person can sit next to each vehicle, but Crew Members will try to seat the rest of your party nearby. If you picked up a guest-activated captioning device at Guest Relations, it works on some of the pre-show monitors. Reflective captioning is also available if you ask a Cast Member to help you with it.
