Not only is the town home to the University of California at Santa Cruz (UCSC), but it's also home to Shakespeare Santa Cruz, which has been called one of the ten best Shakespeare festivals in the country. We concur. The combination of quality, price and ambiance is hard to beat. Every summer, they stage four plays, two on an indoor stage and two outdoors under the redwood trees.
