In 1960, Americans won gold at Squaw Valley, including the famous U. S.-Soviet hockey game when the underdog American team came from behind to defeat their favored rivals. Americans Carol Heiss and David Jenkins won the Men's and Women's Gold medals, too. That original ice pavilion collapsed under a heavy snowfall in 1983. In 1990, this new, 100-foot by 200-foot Olympic ice rink was completed at High Camp. It's open daily all year long.
