disappointed

Ive been going to More Mesa for around 32 years. Havent been in 2 years as I recently moved to Montana. I went just this past week. Same great place except there were a lot of men trolling the beach and gawking. Ruined the day for me. When these men take over a beach it usually means the beginning of the end as the locals dont like it and the cops are called in. The worst thing for this beach is the internet.

More Mesa arrests

There is an increased presence this sping (4/2012) with at least three sweeps by police since Feb. If you get a ticket be polite & gather names of witnesses & others tickets as we have attorneys who can help. There is case law supporting the nude beach use but most people just pay the fine and go away. Unless we get some people willing to take it to court More Mesa will be lost this year. Call Southern Cal Naturist Assoc at (818) 225-2273 or email us if you get ticketed or see police presence so we can help you fight your case. No we are not a law firm, we are the largest organized naturist group in So Cal fighting for all the beaches, hiking trails, and hot springs. We update More Mesa on our web site: www.socalnaturist.org/travel.html

Awesome Beach but Sheriffs are there now

Was at the beach on Apr 7, 2012. Crowd was very thin. About 4pm, the Sheriffs started yelling at nudists on the beach to "Put your clothes on". I talked to the sheriffs on my way home to see what the deal was. They said that More Mesa has never been a "Nude" beach and they were there because someone complained. I couldn't believe it due to the fact that there were only a handfull of people there. I've been going to this beach off and on since 2001 and have never seen the sheriffs there. Everyone is very laidback. I do see the occasional weirdo, But you see that no matter what beach you go to. Other than that, I've never seen any funny stuff on this beach. I hope they don't shut it down to nudity.

Awesome experience on Easter 2012

Went with a friend and it was great to experience nudism for first time at the beach. No more than 20 people, more men than women.

Too Many Weirdos

Back in the 90s, this used to be a nice beach. Now, there are just a bunch of old men, some look like old hippies and others look like perverts.

Hapuna

I spent years at More Mesa beach sunning and swimming. It is a beautiful beach and the people there 'police' it in respect to weirdos. Occasionally a weirdo will show up. But the young and fit men tend to put things right if the weirdo tries anything unpleasant. Otherwise, I would say that there are very few incidents of that kind. I would suggest that you take enough water and a small first aid kit. If you get cut it is very handy to have some antibiotic cream. Lastly, the cops rarely go there. No reason to, really. Who are they disturgin? The main reason is to arrest some jerk who is causing trouble. Everyone else is there just to enjoy the sun and each other's company.

Fun Sunday

I was at More Mesa Beach last Sunday and there was a great crowd. Hike is long and stairway is steep, so be careful. I walk to the right on the beach until I see someone nude, and then I strip down. Last Sunday, the crowd was mostly couples with a few single men and women and some college-age groups of friends. Keep your flip flops on, there is invisible tar on the beach. A great place to see a variety of people naked and to be seen yourself.

NOT RECOMMENDED!!

It is true what the other reviewer said. I personally saw the Sheriff arresting people recently for nudity. Thus, nudity is not recommended here.

POLICE ARE MAKING ARRESTS

Please be aware that the police are monitoring this beach. Recently, a naked man was arrested for "disturbing the peace".

More Mesa beach

What a beautiful beach. I found no tar at all, the sand is soft and clean, and the cliffs offer great protection from the wind. There is enough room for everyone, as well as very little foot traffic. There did seem to be some men "strutting their stuff" but most of the people were very casual and laid back. I am still working up the courage to strip down (I'm just a little shy I suppose), but I'm sure this will be the place where I will be able to bare all.

MAY 2010 Beach Report - "Strange Man"

There is a "strange man" (white man w/short dark hair in his early 50s?) who uses a large blue umbrella and sits near the stairwell on the weekends. He likes to "strut around" (especially in front of minors) and sometimes "fondles himself". IF anyone sees him, please ask him to leave or they may close this beach down.

Kathy

Too many single men walking around. Also, some appear to be gay and "cruising".

May 2010

Beach is in great shape - no tar. Fri. Afternoon about 20 ppl. 50% single male (no creeps), 30% couples, 20% female groups. No law enforcement or gawkers. Only problem is ppl are using area to the left of the steps, and just at the bottom of the steps. Go further to the right, or the Sherriff will show up and shut us down.

2010 Beach Report

Although the storms left this beach with less sand, it is still a great beach. I went at high tide on a full moon (bad idea) and there was not much beach available to walk on. If you go at low tide, there is more sand to walk on. Go to the bottom of the stairs and turn right. Check out the caves further down around the bend. I have not seen any police anywhere near More Mesa in 2010.

Pretty and lots of birds

From 2002: The beach was real pretty and we saw gulls, Herons and a variety of birds while hiking the beach...

2009 Status

The beach is looking good. Sand has filled in the exposed rock and there hasn't been any tar on the beach in a long time. The sand seems to come and go with the changes in the tides over the course of the lunar cycle.

2008 Storm Report

From March, 2008: Due to the terrible storms along California's coast this winter, More Mesa beach is covered in large rocks and driftwood. The south side of the beach (used by non-nudists) is practically inaccessible... The north side of the beach is still being used by nudists, but only a few.... much much less than last year, as the south side of the beach is 90% covered in large rocks and drift wood also.
